GRILL CUP SECTION (16/08/08)

There appears to be some uncertainty regarding fixtures against Cruden Bay in our Grill Cup section. The 1st division side couldn't field a team for their match against Stonehaven and a decision will have to made as to whether they continue, and what  will happen if they dont. News will appear here when we know more.

PROMOTION/RELEGATION...finally resolved (11/08/08)

After yesterday's meeting it appears that a final decision has been made and Lewis Utd will play in the Super League this season with Formartine's relegation confirmed. Everyone in junior football will have their own views on the matter and as a club we will not be posting any opionions on this site.

PROMOTION/RELEGATION......again!

Just when we thought the matter was closed regarding the Lewis Utd promotion/Formartine relegation, a meeting has been called for Sunday 10th August at which the matter will be discussed. We await the outcome with interest!

JUNIOR ADDITION/LOSS

The North Juniors have a new addition to the ranks, but are also a team lighter. Lads Club have gone into abeyance for a year due to a lack of players. Maud did the same a few years back and came back all the better for it and have gone from strength to strength and time will tell if Ladser can do the same. The second division has been boosted with the addition of Inverness City. The newcomers  will be the most northerly junior team and a jolly up there could be a good day out. Lets hope for a favourable cup draw!!

GROUND RIGHTS

Following Lewis Utd's promotion the issue about where they will play appears to be resolved. Our opeing game against them in the Grill Cup will take place at Lads Club's pitch at Woodside, which ironically didn't meet Super League criteria meaning they couldn't be promoted. For all their league matches this season Lewis have stated they will forfeit ground rights and will now play all their opponents twice at their grounds. This means both our league matches against them will be played at Ian Mair Park.

SIGNINGS

We have a couple of new faces on board for the new season. Former Banchory striker Stuart Cole has joined after a year out of the game and his former team-mate from Milton Park Jan Geekie has also been signed. Former Formartine player Paul Cheyne has also arrived to boost the ginger contingent in the squad. Our other new signing is Barry Wilson, who joins us for his second spell at Ian Mair Park. He was with us a few years back before departing for stints in the amateurs and also with Formartine Utd.

PROMOTION/RELEGATION

The last few weeks have seen a lot of uncertainty as to who will actually be playing in the SuperLeague this season. Banchory St

Ternan had their place in the top flight confirmed when they won their appeal against a 12 point deduction to win the first division.

Lewis Utd finished second but have no ground to play on and therefore were denied promotion. However an appeal to Hampden was

successful and they too have been promoted. As a result of Lewis' appeal, Formartine are now relegated after finishing 13th in the

top division last season.

PRE-SEASON

After what appears to have been a very short break the lads have been back in training since the 3rd week in June. News of new

signings and pre-season freindly matches will appear when details are available. League and cup fixtures for August and September

appear in the fixtures link on the forum.
